As many as one in five children go hungry every day in the neediest communities across Canada, yet their suffering is invisible. Child hunger may be hard to see but it is easy for us to take action.
Today The Grocery Foundation is launching its annual campaign, “Toonies for Tummies” to raise money to feed hungry children. From January 26 to February 14, 2010 the Grocery Foundation and more than 1000 participating Ontario grocery stores will ask you to donate a Toonie at the checkout. One hundred percent of all money raised by this campaign goes back into your community to provide breakfast and nutritious snacks for students at a local elementary school. That means 75,000 Ontario children will no longer face a day filled with hunger or a future devoid of hope.
