No one loves baseball more then I do. I have been to more then 17 major league parks in my life and I will most certainly visit more; as a matter of fact I can’t wait till I do. I also love post season baseball. The best teams playing with it all on the line..the coverage is great the announce teams are fantastic and it is this time in a season you really get to see some amazing pitching. So why am I clamoring enough already? Well I guess it is because it is November, and game five of the series is not going to take place until November 4th. The season started in April people…APRIL. Pitchers and catchers are set to head to Spring training camp in around 16 weeks for gods sake. Here is an idea; let’s start the season two weeks early!!! This will work, trust me. Spring training will begin in Florida and Arizona two weeks earlier…no problem it is mild in those climes anyway. The first couple weeks of the season teams can play other teams who reside in domes or in the warmer cities….The Jays can open at home for a few weeks. Dodgers, Padres, Marlins, you get the picture!!! I think this is a great idea…Imagine the Jays opening the season at Rogers Centre with a four game series against the 2009 World Champion New York Yankees. Hey; it’s not over yet!!! Maybe Yankee superfan Todd Smith wrote the last line…Quit it Smitty it’s my blog!!!

Hey Lorne,
I listen to your show every day. I didn’t like what you had to say about the Grey Cup last week. Baseball is so boring to watch. I tried watching it this season but I could only stand to watch for about 10 minutes. It was painful as the Jays switched pitchers and messed around for ages. Nothing happened. That’s not a very entertaining sport I’m afraid. Baseball is for fans who can show up late, leave early, and eat their brains out for the entire time they are there. Get your hot dog here!!!!
The Grey Cup was fantastic again this year. The CFL has a real trophy that is presented to the players. What the heck is that baseball trophy? It looks like a birthday cake with candles on it. Why is it presented to the owner of the team, who is usually some old guy nobody knows? Did he play? The World Series…. sorry dude, where’s the rest of the world? They have no right naming it that.
Oh yes and another thing, the Vanier Cup was entertaining as Queen’s University won on Saturday. The Centennial high school football team was great again this year for making it to the Metro Bowl playoffs last week.
Canadian football is alive and well. Take a look around Lorne. How many baseball teams are there at any level? It’s virtually dead in Canada as kids are playing soccer because baseball is too boring to play. Very few people are interested. MLS is expanding into Canada, baseball is decreasing in popularity and pro teams have left.
The only time baseball was interesting was when Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap played with Les Nessman. Good times.
